AirDeck Privacy Policy

CodeWhen (“CodeWhen,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the AirDeck Android app and AirDeck PC helper application (together, the “Apps”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Apps process, why they process it, and the choices available to you.

Summary

AirDeck is designed primarily for local communication between your Android device and your paired PC on the same Wi-Fi network. The Apps do not require an account and do not include advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Information the Apps process

Local device and pairing information

When you pair an Android device with the PC helper, the Apps process information needed to identify and secure that connection. This can include a random installation-specific device identifier, your device manufacturer and model name, the PC’s local network address and port, and a certificate fingerprint used to recognize the paired PC. The PC helper also stores local allow/block lists for paired devices.

This information is used for pairing, connection security, device management, and communication between your devices. It is stored locally: the Android app stores its pairing identity and certificate pins in protected Android preferences, while the PC helper stores its device settings in local application storage. The Android app excludes these security-sensitive values from Android backup.

Local network communication

The Android app may use Android network service discovery and multicast permissions to find AirDeck PCs on your local Wi-Fi network. After pairing, the Apps communicate directly over the local network using the AirDeck protocol, including encrypted DTLS communication. Data exchanged locally may include control commands, device and compatibility information, and media-control or “now playing” information needed to display or control playback. This local-network data is not sent to CodeWhen’s cloud services by the Apps.

CodeWhen website and plugin requests

The PC helper may connect to CodeWhen’s website to retrieve the AirDeck plugin catalog and to download plugins when you request those features. These requests can include the requested URL, your IP address, browser or app user-agent, and request date and time in the ordinary operation of web servers and hosting providers. The Apps do not send an account profile or analytics identifier with these requests.

The Apps may also open CodeWhen or GitHub release pages when you choose an update or compatibility link. Those websites have their own privacy policies and terms.

Local files and plugins

The PC helper stores installed plugins and related application data in its local application-support directory. It may read or write files needed for plugin installation, configuration, and operation. Third-party plugins may process information independently of CodeWhen; review a plugin’s documentation and permissions before installing it.

Permissions

The Android app requests Internet and local-network permissions needed for discovery and communication with the PC helper. It does not request permissions for location, the camera, microphone, contacts, or Bluetooth. The PC helper may be subject to normal operating-system network, firewall, native-library, and local-storage controls.

How information is shared

Information may be shared:

between your own Android device and PC helper over your local network, as necessary to provide AirDeck features;
with website hosting or infrastructure providers when the PC helper requests the plugin catalog or downloads a plugin; and
when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of CodeWhen, users, or others.

We do not sell or rent personal information and do not use the Apps to deliver targeted advertising.

Retention and deletion

Local pairing data, device lists, plugins, and preferences remain on your devices until you remove them, clear the Apps’ data, uninstall the Apps, or delete the relevant files. You can remove a paired device through the Apps’ device-management controls. Server and hosting logs associated with website requests may be retained for operational, security, and legal purposes according to the practices of the applicable hosting providers.

Security

AirDeck uses pairing and encrypted DTLS communication, including certificate fingerprint pinning on Android, to help protect local connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Apps are not intended for children under the minimum age applicable in their jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Apps.

International processing

When the PC helper accesses CodeWhen’s website or a plugin download service, related request data may be processed in countries where CodeWhen or its service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Apps or our services change. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date.
